Commerce is evolving quickly with consumers demanding frictionless experiences more and more. We’re already starting to see the industry being shaped by more seamless payment experiences and new financial services that expand opportunity for buyers and sellers. 

eBay is looking for an innovative product leader who will create the vision for our next generation of Payments, driving the Buyer Experience and Financial Services product strategy and leading a Product Management team. This leader needs to keep the customer at the center and balance the needs of both longtime and brand new customers around the world. She/he will help make buying products easy for first-timers and fast, safe, and reliable to keep them coming back. The ideal candidate will have experience in reducing friction, improving conversion, and reimagining how and when buyers and sellers pay for things. 

This leader will be responsible for the following payments product areas:

  • Shopping cart

  • Check out

  • Order management, invoicing, quotes

  • Public Buying APIs

  • Loyalty

  • Gift cards

  • Buyer and seller credit and installment/financing

  • Coupons and discount codes

  • Digital wallets and forms of payment experiences

  • New financial services

The Sr. Director of Product will be expected to grow, lead, and mentor a talented product team who will develop great products that dramatically improve the Payments experience on eBay. They will be well-versed in Agile principles, dedicated to continuous learning and improvement, and accomplished in the art of product management. 

Cross-functional organizational agility is essential and this leader will work closely with our Design, Research, Business, and Engineering teams to create an industry-leading payments experience. This leader will have a deep passion for thinking end-to-end across a diverse set of teams, disciplines, and systems. Equally important is exceptional leadership skills.

This executive will also partner closely with the Payments Product VP on key leadership areas such as business reviews, planning, and partnership engagement. This is an executive leadership role and a critical hire as payments is a key growth lever for eBay. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Drive vision, strategy, planning, design and execution for eBay’s Payments buyer  experience and financial services

  • Work with internal and external business partners in establishing and leveraging key partnerships

  • Bring a detail-oriented eye to the eBay experience

  • Recruit, develop and mentor world-class product management talent 

  • Translate broader business strategy, goals, and objectives into specific product plans

  • Collaborate across all functional areas to solve for the customer rather than the org chart

  • Define and create the products for a multi-screen ecommerce platform that enables seamless shopping experiences around the world

  • Formulate & communicate long-term objectives & expectations while also being able to zoom in to the day-to-day details

  • Partner closely with Engineering, Design, Business, and other key stakeholders 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Proven visionary product leader with ecommerce or payments industry experience

  • Demonstrated leadership experience in a complex, matrixed, global organization

  • Ability to lead, inspire, and develop a product management team; a talent magnet

  • Track record of leading the product management of successful and widely-respected consumer mobile/web products

  • Deep understanding of the ecommerce funnel and conversion best practices

  • Highly innovative and creative, driven to create the future in payments and solve for where consumers and the industry are headed

  • Data-driven, leveraging customer data to drive decisions and influence strategy

  • Highly motivated to excel with an intrinsic drive for continuous improvement

  • Driven to tackle hard problems, and solve for breakthrough products and features

  • Have a track record of developing solid personal relationships with partners

  • Willing to take risks and make decisions with imperfect information

  • Effective and professional communicator who represents eBay well
