DevOps Engineer - Engineering Systems

About the Team:

The Engineering Systems Tools team is looking for a new team member. This candidate will build and support enterprise tools and environments used by internal eBay engineering teams. This position will require skills to build front-end and back-end applications and API’s centered around enterprise engineering tools, operations, and provisioning solutions. eBay is migrating to container solutions using Kubernetes.

Skills in this area will highly beneficial. The position will include a mix of development and operations.

The Engineering Systems and Tools team supports some out of the box enterprise tools like JIRA and Confluence, builds custom tools used by developers, and owns provisioning of hosts in the Mobile and eBay Dev environments.

The operations side of the role involves monitoring, tracking, upgrading, and automating the solutions we own.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience building, configuring, deploying, monitoring and maintaining instances of applications in a highly available enterprise environment
  • Experience coding in Java and related frameworks
  • Experience in working with virtualization technologies to provision and maintain cloud solutions
  • Identify and fix stability/scalability issues in enterprise environments and applications
  • Kubernetes, Docker, and related technologies
  • Experience debugging infrastructure and application issues and tuning technology tiers for improved performance and resource management
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate complex technical issues in language understandable to both software engineers and network/systems engineers
  • Proven proficiency in multiple software languages and development of both front-end and back-end solutions
  • Understanding of all aspects of a modern technology stack, including networking, OS, DB, and application server
  • Lead product and technology initiatives, recommend improvements, mentor and guide junior team members
  • Identify project risks and make recommendations
  • Automate manual engineering processes

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent
