We are seeking a professional individual to join our team as a HR Consultant, Germany (d/f/m).

The Role:

This is an exciting time to join our business, we are undergoing a merger which adds significant value, and we are accelerating growth within the German businesses, and eBay Kleinanzeigen.

The HR function is going through its own transformation with many People Initiatives being implemented throughout the combined business. We are building up a new central People Services team providing excellent service to our people.

To support us  in this exciting journey, we are looking for a seasoned HR professional to join our People and Communications Team as a HR Consultant focusing on Employee Relations. 

The HR Consultant will be responsible for supporting local employees and managers with complex and sensitive issues, including providing guidance regarding interpretation of policies and programs, equal employment opportunities, disability services and labour relations.

You will take the lead in investigating employee complaints and disputes, and recommending the company's response, as well as educating new and current employees on employee relations issues. Working closely with the Employment Relations team and legal advisors to effectively deal with possible conflicts related to employment practices is also an important part of the role.

What you will do:

  • Advise and counsel employees regarding a broad range of complex employee relations inquiries regarding our HR policies and processes

  • Partner closely with People Services hub on any local, legal or regulatory query management that is unable to be resolved by the central People Services 

  • Liaising closely with the Employee Relations & Case Management team within People Operations and provide local labour law considerations for employee relations cases managed within Germany

  • Coach managers in the German businesses on employee relations issues,  including assistance with administering Performance Improvement Plans and Corrective Action Plans

  • Handle most aspects of involuntary terminations for employees ensuring legal compliance

  • Conduct investigations into employee or manager complaints that are raised via People Services Hub
  • Responsible for keeping up to date with local legal and regulatory issues that affect employment and recommending appropriate modifications to existing policy and practices as needed in partnership with legal

  • Derive torelevant management implications from inquiries to identify key insights across the business and relates these observations and potential solutions to the HR Business Partners

  • Responsible for managing employee representation and consultation activities

  • Collaborate closely with the People Services Hub Team and with HR Consultant colleagues in other locations as needed

  • Liaise closely with HR Business Partners, Legal and other People Team Centers of Excellence

Who you are:

  • Experienced HR Generalist providing HR and ER advice to managers and supporting the business through change processes

  • Comprehensive expertise in German Labor Relations and Employee Relations

  • A minimum Bachelor’s degree in human resources management or equivalent

  • Experience coaching staff, conflict resolution, disciplinary processes and workplace investigations

  • Experience with HR Management software solutions like Workday 

  • Unquestioned credibility, judgement, character and ethics

  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills

  • Comfortable working in a high-paced, international and changing work environment

  • A can-do attitude, having a deep understanding of legal requirements balance with a pragmatic attitude to dispute resolution

  • Fluent English and German are a requirement for the role, additional languages an advantage.
