About the role
We are seeking a proven expert in Program and Project Management to lead our global Ads Project Management Office (PMO). This leader will help continue to build a world class PMO to support our growing Ads business playing a critical role in driving the execution of our yearly roadmap, establishing project management standards and best practices, and providing a change management framework including internal communication strategy. This position will report to our Head of Ads Strategy, M&A, & PMO.
This is a critical role within the organization. The ideal candidate will operate at a high level of intellectual curiosity, exhibit superior strategic and communication capabilities, demonstrate a strong work ethic, and bring a proven ability to work with and lead teams. They will have the maturity, confidence, intellectual strengths, and real-world experience to lead and inspire a team of smart and driven professionals. This candidate must have a passion for understanding and serving the outstanding community of eBay users.
Lead a talented change management team, responsible for providing visibility to eBay leadership into the execution of our portfolio of pivotal initiatives, from concept and initiation to product release and go to market
Establish the organization’s approach to repeatable and scalable process across the project lifecycle: from inception, planning, initiation, resourcing and execution to monitoring, control and completion
Ensure the PMO meets performance targets, aligning with the organization's strategic priorities and adhering to standard methodologies for program and project delivery
Create transparency around progress, issues, and risks, and driving regular review cadences across the Ads organization and its key partners
Balance trade-offs between business needs with technical constraints; gaining consensus across partners along the way regarding project requirements and scope
Anticipate, assess and manage issues and risks independently; perform as needed root cause analysis and recommend mitigation plans
Operationalize the quarterly and yearly roadmap including prioritization of in- and out-bound requests across other dependant teams
Partner with stakeholders horizontally and vertically within the organization - across product managers, engineers & technical leads, product marketing managers, sales and operations.
Lead roadmap planning, scoping, and prioritization throughout the year and in support of our annual planning cycle
Represent the organization as we interface with other partner teams and functions; centralizing and streamlining the needs and asks of the organization
Contribute to Ebay leadership’s assessment of strategic build / buy / partner options (aligning inorganic vs organic initiatives)
12+ years of experience leading a global change management organization
Expertise in project management governance frameworks and standards of practice ( certifications considered a strong plus)
Demonstrated track record of leading large-scale portfolios of projects from conception through completion
Capable of leading through negotiation and influence, holding program/project leads accountable to greater goals regardless of level of seniority
Ability to build a strong network and relationships at executive levels, partnering with teams equally, proactively, and transparency inside and outside of the organization
Experience working in an end to end, cross functional environment with engineering, design, product, sales, ops, and project management counterparts to deliver products/services
Mentor, coach and effectively transfer expertise across the organization
Knowledge of Agile development practices; prior experience with Lean and/or Six Sigma analytical technique
BS/BA degree, MBA or Engineering degree preferred
Proven leadership experience required
