About the team:

The Identity team plays a key role in creating a secure user experience when browsing the website or using the app. We are responsible for building a global solution for Identity and Account Management (IAM), helping to provide a secure, seamless and trustworthy experience for all eCG platforms and their users. All of this we do with interdisciplinary collaboration, working in an agile framework and in close alignment with our local platforms and other global teams.

About the role:

We are looking for an experienced software engineer with a proven track record in building and running production-grade services at scale. You will partner closely with other engineers and product managers to create the technology that secures our sites and the accounts of our users.

You will mentor more junior developers by guiding them through architecture and procedures and helping them develop their engineering skills. You will help to continuously improve the development work in all areas from coding and processes, to tools and testing.

The person we are looking for has extensive experience in building web applications or a related area, with 6+ years of full-time employment. We expect the right person to be a guide in software engineering and have good knowledge of what it means to work with large and/or distributed systems. We also believe that a well-rounded engineer has experience with more than just one programming language.

What you will do:

  • Work closely together with global tech and product on new projects and enhancements

  • Design and build reliable services in a centralized Identity and Access Management solution

  • Enhance our system architecture to balance scale and performance

Here are some examples of our work:

  • Single Sign-on with OAuth 2.0 and OpenID Connect

  • Identity and Account Management APIs using open standards 

  • Multi-factor and risk-based authentication

Who are you:

  • You write clean code that works

  • You have an analytical mindset to understand business needs, and come up with engineering solutions

  • You have expertise building web applications on the JVM using Spring Boot, Quarkus, Micronaut or other open source frameworks

  • You have expertise in Java programming language

  • You have knowledge and familiarity with relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and pub-sub messaging systems (Kafka), and interest in distributed data stores (CockroachDB, Cassandra)

  • You have experience with Linux, Docker, private/public cloud

  • You build it, you run it

  • You love freedom and don’t like being micromanaged. Given context, you're capable of self-direction

  • You are a sharp communicator who can explain complex computing problems in clear and concise language

  • You are motivated to explore new technologies and learn and can do so without taking formal education

  • You have an eagerness to share your own ideas, and openness to those of others
