About the role
Inspiring our users with great recommendations. Using machine learning to optimise the search experience of buyers. Brainstorming about new ways we can improve Marktplaats with data models.
Does this sound exciting? As a data scientist, you will work on models that improve the user experience on our platform. You are involved in all phases of creating data products, from understanding the business need and data exploration, to the productionizing of the models that create an impact on the lives of so many people.
You will work in a multidisciplinary team with fellow data scientists and engineers, together you are responsible for building and improving these models that change our platform. You also drive a data-driven mentality by presenting your work to the company and brainstorming with teams on the endless possibilities of data.

What you’ll need
1-3 years of experience in data science
M.Sc. degree in computer science, mathematics, econometrics, physics or other quantitative field
Experience with Python
Knowledge of Machine Learning techniques, e.g. NLP, clustering and recommender systems
Experience with big data technologies, tools and languages, e.g. Hadoop, Hive, Spark and MLFlow
Strong drive to understand our data and users and build impactful data products
Good communication (written/verbal) and presentation skills in English
